Chapter 10

The morning sun broke over the sprawling Winslow estate, casting a bright, luminous glow through the towering windows of the grand dining hall. The cascading crystal chandeliers were turned off, allowing the natural, airy daylight to fill the room with a fresh, polished warmth. The long mahogany tables had been cleared of the gold-rimmed porcelain and silver cutlery, returning the room to a state of quiet, elegant tranquility.

Dante stood near the pale marble fireplace, staring out the window. He had spent the entire night orchestrating the systemic destruction of the Hart syndicate. Strike teams had already seized the eastern ports, and Aurelia’s father was currently in federal custody, courtesy of an anonymous package containing his daughter's handwritten confession. The war had been won before the enemy even realized the battle had begun.

The heavy double doors of the dining hall clicked open, breaking the silent reverence of the morning.

Fiona stepped into the room. She was no longer wearing the sophisticated black maid dress. Instead, she wore a simple, elegant blouse and tailored trousers, looking refreshed and radiant. She held little Ruby by the hand, the three-year-old girl bouncing happily, her scuffed flat shoes replaced by clean new sneakers.

"Is she ready for breakfast, Fiona?" Dante asked, turning away from the fireplace, a genuine, warm smile breaking across his handsome face as he looked at the child.

"She is, Mr. Winslow," Fiona replied, her American accent bright and cheerful. "And she is very excited to explore the gardens today."

"Shall we go see the roses, Ruby?" Dante asked, walking over and effortlessly lifting the toddler into his powerful arms.

Ruby giggled, wrapping her tiny arms securely around his neck, finding absolute safety in the towering Mafia boss.

Dante looked at Fiona, his cold, perceptive eyes entirely softened by profound gratitude. The young woman had risked her life to expose a truth that had saved a child and severed a toxic alliance. She was no longer a servant; she was a fiercely loyal, permanent fixture of his inner circle.

"Will you join us for breakfast, Fiona?" Dante asked softly.

Fiona’s fair, rosy cheeks flushed a delicate pink. "I would be honored to join you, sir."

"Shall we lead the way?" Dante asked, adjusting Ruby on his broad shoulder.

They walked together out of the bright, airy dining hall, stepping out onto the sunlit terrace overlooking the sprawling estate. The nightmare was over. The traitors had been purged, the empire secured, and a vulnerable child had found a true home. But as Dante glanced out at the city skyline in the distance, he knew that peace in their world was always temporary. New enemies would rise, and new wars would be fought.

"Will anyone ever dare to threaten this family again while I draw breath?" Dante whispered to himself, a dark, terrifying promise lingering beneath his breath. The future of the Winslow syndicate was bright, but it would always be defended with absolute, unyielding power.
