Chapter 9

The sickening, heavy crunch of metal shattering bone echoed through the pristine suburban kitchen, followed instantly by David’s muffled, agonizing scream. He violently thrashed against the iron grips of the two capos pinning him to the wall, his eyes rolling back in his head as the blinding pain of a completely shattered kneecap overloaded his nervous system.

Margaret collapsed onto the floor near the kitchen island, weeping hysterically, her hands clamped tightly over her ears in a desperate attempt to block out the horrific sounds of her son's punishment.

Alexander didn't flinch. His expression remained entirely composed, a mask of cold, terrifying stone. He slowly collapsed the baton with a flick of his wrist and returned it to the inner pocket of his dark overcoat.

"Release him," Alexander ordered quietly.

The two guards immediately stepped back. David collapsed heavily onto the polished tile floor, landing awkwardly among the scattered barstools. He clutched his ruined knee, weeping loudly, entirely incapacitated and broken. The arrogant, violent man who had ruled his household through fear was entirely gone, replaced by a sobbing wreck.

Alexander turned his back on him without a second glance. The debt had been collected.

He walked gracefully back over to Sarah, who was still resting against the lower cabinets. She had watched the entire brutal sequence in silence, her fair, rosy face pale, but her eyes reflecting a profound, terrifying relief. The monster that had terrorized her was finally neutralized.

"The medical transport is here, Boss," the lead guard announced softly, stepping away from the window.

Right on cue, two men dressed in discreet, dark paramedic uniforms entered through the front door, pushing a collapsible medical stretcher. They moved quickly into the kitchen, immediately kneeling beside Sarah and beginning to stabilize her severely broken leg with a specialized splint.

"We'll have you at the private clinic in twenty minutes, ma'am," one of the medics murmured reassuringly.

"Thank you," Sarah whispered, wincing slightly as they secured the straps.

Alexander stood over her, his hands resting in the pockets of his overcoat. He watched the medics work, ensuring every movement was careful.

"What about him?" Sarah asked quietly, gesturing weakly toward David.

"He suffered a terrible fall," Alexander replied smoothly. "He requires extensive surgery and a very long, painful rehabilitation period at a secluded facility entirely controlled by my associates. He will sign the divorce papers, he will surrender full custody of Emma, and he will sign over all his financial assets. If he refuses, his rehabilitation will become significantly more painful."

Sarah nodded slowly, accepting the absolute finality of her father's judgment.

The medics carefully lifted Sarah onto the stretcher, locking the wheels. They began rolling her swiftly out of the kitchen, maneuvering down the hallway toward the waiting transport van outside.

Alexander lingered for a moment in the bright light of the ruined kitchen. He turned his attention to Margaret, who was still sobbing quietly on the floor.

"You have exactly twenty-four hours to pack your belongings and vacate the guest house," Alexander stated coldly, locking eyes with the older woman. "If you ever attempt to contact my daughter or granddaughter again, you will join your son. Do we understand each other?"

May you like

Margaret nodded frantically, too terrified to speak.

Alexander didn't wait for a verbal confirmation. He turned and walked slowly out of the house, leaving the bleeding traitors behind him.
