Chapter 15

Marjorie eventually asked to apologize.

Sienna said no.

A month later, still no.

Three months later, yes.

Her timing.

Not mine.

They met in my sitting room.

Mila was not there.

Neither was Elena.

Marjorie expected grandchildren.

She got Sienna.

That disappointment showed.

Good.

Sienna saw it too.

“You’re here for me.”

Marjorie corrected her expression.

“Of course.”

“No.”

Sienna stayed calm.

“You came hoping I’d bring the girls.”

Silence.

There.

Marjorie had not changed enough.

Not yet.

She tried the familiar route.

“I’m their grandmother.”

Sienna answered:

“And I’m their mother.”

Simple.

Final.

Marjorie looked toward me.

I said nothing.

She hated that.

Good.

For years, she recruited men to overrule women.

Not today.

She apologized for minimizing the push.

For controlling appointments.

For using pregnancy as leverage.

Then stumbled when she reached Mila.

“I never wanted Sabrina to hurt her.”

Sienna looked at her.

“You held her down.”

Silence.

No escape.

Marjorie cried.

Maybe real.

Still not enough.

Sienna said:

“Understanding you were wrong does not make you safe.”

That was the sentence.

Marjorie left without seeing the children.

Correct outcome.
