Chapter 9

The silence that followed the crash was absolute, heavy with the terrifying reality of what had just transpired. The bright, natural sunlight poured through the glass roof, illuminating the total devastation of the conservatory. Dirt, broken ceramic, shattered china, and scattered silver trays littered the pristine tiles.

Chase Mercer let out a wet, rattling cough from beneath the collapsed planter stand, his body twitching as he struggled to remain conscious. Tove lay whimpering among the broken teacups, clutching her swelling face, her elegant dress stained with soil and spilled tea.

Cullen stood in the center of the ruin, his posture radiating a deeply masculine, intimidating authority. He did not rush. He did not yell. He slowly, deliberately raised his eyes, fixing his cold, sharp gaze directly upon Tove.

Tove shrank back, pressing her shoulders against the overturned silver trolley, her tear-filled eyes wide with unadulterated terror. She looked at the handsome, movie-star face of the man she was supposed to marry, finally realizing that the charming exterior was nothing but a mask for a ruthless, unrelenting monster.

"Cullen... please," Tove whispered, her American accent broken and fragile. "Don't kill us. We'll leave. You'll never see us again."

Cullen took a slow step forward, the polished leather of his shoe crunching softly over a broken piece of porcelain. He stood over her, his shadow falling across her trembling form, blocking out the bright, cinematic light.

"A three-year-old," Cullen said. His voice was incredibly quiet, yet it resonated with a lethal, apocalyptic finality that froze the blood in Tove’s veins.

He stared down at her, the loose strands of his wavy hair shifting slightly as he tilted his head. Every word he spoke was measured, cold, and dripping with dangerous intent.

"You broke... all the rules," Cullen whispered, his eyes entirely devoid of mercy. "Now... I have none."

Tove’s face became a portrait of absolute, paralyzing fright. She realized, in that defining moment, that there would be no negotiation. There would be no mercy. Cullen Ravello was not going to simply throw them out; he was going to destroy their entire existence.

Suddenly, the heavy mahogany doors of the conservatory swung open.

Four towering, heavily armed bodyguards stepped into the bright room. They were white American adults, dressed in immaculate dark suits, their fair and rosy faces set in expressions of cold, professional lethality. They took one sweeping look at the devastated room—the unconscious Chase, the fallen Tove, and their Boss standing flawlessly in the center of the wreckage.

"Boss," the lead guard said, his voice low and respectful. "The perimeter is secure. What are your orders?"

Cullen did not take his eyes off Tove. He slowly reached up and adjusted the unbuttoned collar of his dress shirt.

"Lock them... in the cellar," Cullen commanded softly. "And prepare... the transport vans. We are going to pay... the Mercer estate... a visit."
