Chapter 4

The bright, neutral white lighting of the dining room highlighted the terrifying, methodical calmness of Alex’s movements. He did not yell. He did not explode into a theatrical rage. He operated with a cold, absolute calculation that was infinitely more dangerous than anger.

Alex grabbed the heavy metal handle of the massive, steaming soup pot with his bare, tattooed hand. The intense heat of the metal was entirely ignored. His jawline tightened as he felt the sheer weight of the boiling liquid inside—the exact liquid that had blistered his daughter's hands and required his wife's bandages.

With a sudden, explosive surge of deeply masculine strength, Alex lifted the massive pot completely off the counter.

He spun on his polished leather shoes, turning back toward the long, opulent dining table. The guests seated near Evelyn’s end of the table stared in absolute, uncomprehending horror as the Mafia boss approached them holding the boiling vessel.

Without a single word, Alex hurled the heavy soup pot directly into the center of the empty section of the dining table.

The impact was devastating. The massive pot slammed into the mahogany wood with the force of a mortar shell. The heavy metal instantly buckled. Boiling, scalding soup exploded outward in a massive, thick wave across the table.

Heavy serving dishes rocketed across the wood, shattering against the walls. Crystal wine glasses burst into fragments. Folded white napkins and expensive, decorative floral centerpieces were completely obliterated, sent flying through the air in a chaotic cascade of destruction. The thick, boiling liquid spilled over the edges of the table, staining the pristine carpet and filling the room with a sudden, suffocating cloud of fragrant steam.

Every single guest seated at the table shrieked, jumping violently backward. Chairs toppled over as the white American adults scrambled desperately to escape the splash zone of the boiling soup and flying ceramics.

The heavy pot rolled off the table, crashing onto the floor with a final, deafening clang.

The entire room went completely, absolutely silent, save for the hiss of the hot liquid burning the carpet.

Alex stood in the center of the devastation, his dark three-piece suit completely unblemished by the destruction he had just unleashed. He kept Rosie tucked safely against his chest, shielding her entirely from the chaos. He turned his head slowly, his cold, intimidating eyes sweeping over the terrified, trembling guests.

There was no dialogue. The message was explicitly clear. The civilized dinner was permanently over.

Instantly, the heavy mahogany doors leading to the main foyer and the secondary exit slammed shut. Four massive, white American bodyguards in professional dark suits stepped in front of the exits. They stood shoulder-to-shoulder, their hands resting menacingly on the concealed weapons beneath their jackets. They sealed both dining-room exits, forming an impenetrable, lethal wall.

Alex slowly turned his face back toward the head of the table. He looked directly at Evelyn. The sixty-three-year-old matriarch was trembling violently, her expensive formal gown speckled with drops of the spilled soup.

"No one is leaving," Alex stated. His voice was dead calm, a low, raspy whisper that carried the terrifying weight of a final judgment. "Until I know exactly what happened."
