Chapter 4

The sheer, overwhelming intimidation radiating from Vincent Bellacorte finally pierced through Helena's arrogant facade. The sixty-one-year-old matriarch hesitated, her fair skin losing its rosy flush. But before she could release the child, Adrian made a catastrophic, suicidal miscalculation.
Driven by cornered desperation and an irrational belief that he could assert dominance over the situation, Adrian lunged toward Eli. He reached his hands out aggressively, intending to snatch the boy from Helena and physically drag him out of the dining hall before Vincent could intervene.
"Come here, you little brat!" Adrian shouted, his adrenaline overriding his common sense.
Vincent moved with the explosive, terrifying speed of a seasoned street enforcer.
He didn't yell. He didn't issue a final warning.
As Adrian’s hands reached for the crying child, Vincent stepped smoothly into his path. With absolute, devastating precision, Vincent reached out and caught the lapels of Adrian’s tailored suit. He violently tore his cousin away from Eli, using Adrian’s own forward momentum against him.
With a brutal, flawless transfer of his immense upper-body strength, Vincent drove one powerful, catastrophic punch straight into Adrian’s upper body.
The heavy family signet ring on Vincent’s hand connected squarely with the center of Adrian’s chest. The sickening, resonant crack of breaking ribs echoed like a gunshot through the silent, brightly lit room.
The sheer kinetic force of the blow lifted the forty-one-year-old capo completely out of his polished leather shoes. Adrian’s eyes rolled back in his head instantly as all the air detonated from his lungs in a violent gasp. He was launched backward, spinning entirely out of control through the cinematic light.
He hurtled backward and crashed catastrophically into an empty, heavy mahogany dining chair.
The impact was thunderous. The expensive chair splintered and shattered under his massive weight, the wooden legs giving way with a loud shriek. Adrian collapsed onto the polished marble floor amidst the ruined wood, completely incapacitated. He lay in a tangled, groaning heap, clutching his shattered chest, unable to draw a breath.
There was no dialogue. The overwhelming, brutal reality of the violence silenced every single person in the room. The elite American guests stared in wide-eyed horror, pressing themselves back against the walls.
Helena released Eli instantly.

She dropped the boy's wrist as if it were burning hot, taking a frantic, stumbling step backward. Her expensive heels scraped loudly against the marble. She stared at her fallen nephew, her hands flying to her mouth in absolute terror.
Vincent stood in the center of the room, his chest rising and falling with slow, perfectly controlled breaths. He adjusted the cuffs of his dress shirt, smoothing the dark fabric of his three-piece suit. He did not look at the broken man on the floor. His cold, sharp eyes simply waited for the dust to settle.
