Chapter 1

The grand dining hall of the Bellacorte estate was a masterpiece of vivid, cinematic brilliance. Massive crystal chandeliers hung from the vaulted ceilings, casting a bright, luminous glow over the long mahogany table. The room was bathed in rich, saturated colors—emerald drapes, pristine white table linens, and the gleaming silver of the dinner service. The lighting was meticulously arranged, natural and flawless, casting no harsh shadows. Around the room stood the elite members of the Bellacorte Mafia family, their fair, rosy skin glowing with health and untouchable privilege. Crisp American accents floated through the air as capos and guests exchanged quiet, measured words. Yet, at the far end of the room, a chilling tableau was unfolding, shattering the polished elegance of the evening.

Adrian Bellacorte, a forty-one-year-old senior capo, stood with a posture that radiated arrogant aggression. He wore a flawlessly tailored suit, the crisp collar of his dress shirt framing his flushed, rosy face. The family pin gleamed maliciously on his lapel. His large, rough hand shot out, brutally grabbing the delicate jaw of three-year-old Eli Bellacorte.

"Look at her," Adrian commanded, his American accent sharp and unforgiving.

Eli, dressed impeccably in formal child’s clothing and tiny, polished dress shoes, let out a sharp whimper. His bright blue eyes were wide with absolute terror.

Adrian violently forced the little boy to face Maria Reed. The twenty-five-year-old estate housekeeper stood paralyzed a few feet away. She was breathtakingly beautiful, her fair complexion pale with shock. Dressed in a crisp, professional housekeeper uniform with a white apron and sensible flats, Maria looked completely defenseless against the predators circling her.

Adrian pressed the frightened, trembling boy toward the maid, his grip on the child’s jaw unyielding. He leaned down, the leather of his polished shoes creaking against the marble floor.

"Come on, little prince," Adrian mocked softly, his voice dripping with a poisonous, calculated cruelty. "One tiny lie and maybe you earn dinner tonight."

"Please, Mr. Adrian," Maria whispered, her voice shaking violently as tears gathered in her eyes. "He is just a baby. He doesn't understand."

"Shut your mouth, Maria," Adrian snapped, not even looking at her. He tightened his grip on Eli. "I said, tell them what she did to you, Eli. Tell them she hit you."

"I didn't!" Maria cried out, taking a desperate step backward. "I would never touch him!"

"Tell the lie, boy," Adrian hissed into Eli's ear, ignoring the maid entirely. "Do it now."

Eli’s lower lip quivered. The three-year-old squeezed his eyes shut, large tears spilling over his rosy cheeks, entirely trapped by the towering, violent capo who demanded his obedience.
