Chapter 3

The silence in the parking garage was absolute and terrifying. The rhythmic hum of the ventilation system overhead amplified the tension wrapping around Gavin's throat. Alessandra remained kneeling on the concrete, holding Tobin securely against her chest, her dark eyes locked onto her husband with a predatory stillness that made the surrounding capos instinctively step away from him.

Before Gavin could attempt another pathetic excuse, the heavy metal door to the security office clicked open.

Michael Reed stepped out into the bright fluorescent light. At forty-seven, Michael was the senior parking supervisor, a seasoned veteran of the underground operations. He was dressed impeccably in a professional hotel uniform, complete with an identification badge, tailored trousers, and sturdy work shoes. He carried a heavy clipboard, his fair, rosy face set in a grim, uncompromising line.

Michael took one look at Alessandra kneeling on the floor with her son and immediately began marching toward the private elevator lobby.

Seeing the supervisor approaching, Gavin panicked. He knew exactly what Michael had witnessed on the security cameras. Gavin lunged forward, moving to physically block Michael’s path.

"Get back to your desk, Michael!" Gavin ordered frantically, holding out his arm. "This is private family business! You are not needed here!"

Michael didn't even break his stride. He simply shoved Gavin’s arm aside with the heavy clipboard, entirely unimpressed by the man’s expensive tuxedo. Michael knew exactly who held the real power.

Michael stopped five feet away from Alessandra. He ignored Gavin, ignored Sybil, and ignored Vanessa. He looked directly at Alessandra, his expression a mixture of profound professional respect and deep disgust for the people standing behind him.

"Boss," Michael said firmly, his deep voice carrying clearly across the concrete garage. "You need to know the truth."

"Michael, shut your mouth!" Ethan Cole, Vanessa’s forty-year-old brother, snapped from the sidelines, stepping forward in his own expensive tuxedo. "You're a glorified valet! Know your place!"

Michael ignored Ethan entirely. He kept his eyes locked respectfully on Alessandra.

"The boy has been here for nine hours straight," Michael stated, delivering the information with absolute clarity. "They brought him down here just after breakfast. They locked the stairwell doors and instructed my staff not to provide him with food or water, per Mr. Gavin's direct orders."

The revelation dropped like a live grenade into the center of the room.

Nine hours. A three-year-old child left alone in a freezing garage for nine hours while his father attended a luxury gala directly above him.

Every single capo and bodyguard in the vicinity instantly turned their heads toward Gavin. The disgust on their faces was palpable. To torture one's own bloodline was an unforgivable sin.

Alessandra slowly closed her eyes. She took a deep, steadying breath, pressing her forehead against Tobin’s dirty hair. When she opened her eyes again, the wife Gavin had known was completely gone.

"Take my son to my armored vehicle, Michael," Alessandra commanded quietly, her voice a low, lethal hum. "Lock the doors. Do not let anyone approach him."

"Yes, Boss," Michael nodded, stepping forward and gently lifting the exhausted Tobin into his arms.

Alessandra slowly stood up, brushing a speck of dust from her tailored pantsuit. She cracked her neck, fixing her eyes entirely on the traitors standing before her.
