Chapter 4

The moment Michael Reed carried Tobin safely out of the immediate vicinity, the fragile dam holding back the violence shattered. The air in the garage became instantly electrified.
Ethan Cole, trying to prove his worth as a Mafia associate and desperate to protect his sister Vanessa from the lethal wrath of the syndicate boss, made a catastrophic error in judgment. He foolishly believed that because Alessandra was a woman, and because she was unarmed, he could physically overpower her and seize control of the situation.
"You're not doing anything to my sister!" Ethan roared, his fair, rosy face twisting into an ugly sneer.
Ethan lunged forward, his expensive leather shoes slipping slightly on the polished concrete. He closed the distance rapidly and grabbed Alessandra’s left shoulder with a heavy, bruising grip. Without pausing, he pulled his right fist back and swung a brutal, sweeping punch aimed directly at her jaw.
It was a strike meant to knock her completely unconscious.
Alessandra didn't scream. She didn't flinch. She had been trained by the deadliest enforcers in the world long before she ever sat at the head of the council table.
With a terrifying, liquid grace that belied her immense power, Alessandra smoothly dipped her head and stepped to the side. She slipped entirely outside the trajectory of the punch. Ethan’s heavy fist sailed harmlessly through the empty air over her shoulder, the sheer momentum of his missed strike throwing him wildly off balance.
Before Ethan could even realize he had missed, Alessandra planted her polished heel firmly on the concrete. She twisted her hips, channeling the full kinetic force of her body, and drove one explosive, devastating counterpunch straight across Ethan’s face.
The heavy family signet ring on her hand connected squarely with Ethan’s cheekbone. The sickening, wet crunch of shattering bone echoed through the cavernous garage like a gunshot.
Ethan’s eyes rolled back into his head instantly. The sheer power of the blow lifted the forty-year-old man completely off the ground. He spun violently backward, completely out of control, his arms flailing uselessly in the air.
He crashed directly back-first into a heavy, rolling luggage cart parked near the VIP elevator.
The impact was spectacular. The heavy brass cart rocketed backward on its wheels, carrying Ethan's dead weight with it. The cart slammed violently into two folded event-canopy frames leaning against the wall. The metal frames buckled and collapsed instantly.
Empty, heavy-duty garment bags burst outward from the luggage cart, scattering across the floor. Lightweight aluminum support poles from the canopies clattered loudly as they rolled across the concrete. A massive, iron-reinforced coat trunk was clipped by the cart and flipped completely onto its side with a deafening crash.
Ethan crashed through the collapsing canopy frames, disappearing beneath a tangled, chaotic mountain of twisted aluminum, torn garment bags, and the overturned coat trunk. He lay completely motionless in the wreckage, blood pooling rapidly beneath his shattered face.

There was absolutely no dialogue. The entire sequence of extreme violence had taken less than three seconds.
The capos and bodyguards remained perfectly still, their hands resting near their holstered weapons. They simply watched their boss smoothly adjust the cuffs of her silk blouse, her breathing perfectly even, having just dismantled a grown man without breaking a single sweat.
