Chapter 5

The ringing silence in the guest room was profound, broken only by the wet, ragged gasps coming from Michael on the floor. The bright, cinematic lighting illuminated the total, devastating physical dismantling of the rebellion. Elena, the fifty-five-year-old housekeeper, remained frozen by the dresser, her hands covering her mouth in shock, though a profound sense of relief washed over her fair face.
Dominic stood over his broken brother for a long, heavy second. He slowly lowered his knee, adjusting the cuffs of his tailored three-piece suit with a chilling, casual elegance. He did not spare Michael a second glance. The threat had been neutralized.
He gently guided his weeping mother to a nearby plush armchair, helping her sit down with absolute, tender care.
"Elena," Dominic said, his deep, resonant voice entirely devoid of the violence he had just unleashed.
"Yes, Mr. Coleman?" the housekeeper responded instantly, stepping forward.
"Stay with my mother. Do not leave her side," Dominic instructed softly, pressing a reassuring kiss to Donna's forehead.
"I won't leave her, sir. I promise," Elena vowed, moving quickly to the elderly woman's side and taking her trembling hands.
With his mother secured, Dominic slowly turned his imposing, deeply masculine frame toward the doorway. Hattie was still pressed against the wood, her elegant outfit rumpled, her diamond jewelry sparkling mockingly in the bright sunlight. Her rosy cheeks were completely drained of color, leaving her looking sickly and translucent.
As Dominic turned to face her, the heavy sound of synchronized footsteps echoed from the private office corridor. Two massive, white American bodyguards stepped into the room, taking up positions immediately behind Dominic. They wore professional dark suits, their expressions set in masks of cold, lethal readiness.
Dominic looked from Hattie to Michael, his sharp, intimidating eyes burning with an apocalyptic, cold fire.
He took one slow, deliberate step toward his wife.
"You thought," Dominic growled through clenched teeth, his voice a low, vibrating hum of pure, concentrated executioner's wrath. Every syllable dripped with a lethal, absolute finality. "That my patience... was a weakness."
Hattie shook her head frantically, tears of genuine, paralyzing terror spilling over her cheeks. "Dominic, please. It was Michael's idea! He manipulated me! He said you were losing your grip on the families!"
"You put a leash... on the woman who gave me life," Dominic continued, entirely ignoring her pathetic, desperate lies.
He stopped just a few feet away from her, his broad shoulders blocking her only path of escape. The bright, vivid colors of the room seemed to fade into the periphery, leaving only the terrifying reality of his presence.

"You’ve made a mistake," Dominic whispered, his cold eyes piercing straight through her soul, "that can’t be undone."
Hattie’s face became a portrait of pure, unadulterated fright. She opened her mouth to beg, to plead for her life, but no sound came out. She finally understood that the luxurious life she had enjoyed, the power she had tried to steal, and the marriage she had betrayed were all completely, irreversibly over.
